You’ve seen the progress outside and, although we can’t yet walk you through the inside, here’s a sneak peek into the plans of what we’ve got in store.
It won’t be long until we begin to schedule our Hard Hat Tours with you to tour the Reggio-inspired childcare centre that is Atelier Kids in High Park/Bloor West. Keep scrolling for details . . .

Plan on Natural Light

The importance of natural light and exposure to the outdoors is not lost in our transformation of 15 Oakmount Road. Windows and skylights pour sunshine and blue skies into our learning environments. We’ll genuinely welcome and admire the musical pitter-pat and pour of the raindrops, and the beauty of snowflakes too.

Centres & Spaces

Our Pre-K level for ages 2 1/2 to 4 will provide ample space for exploration with such provocations as light and shadow plus an expanse of surface space to exercise fine motor development with loose-parts play. The bookshelves allow well-appointed storage at a height that’s inviting to our children with nearby quiet space to tuck in for book discovery and reading development. Areas of art and project development are offered as spaces to create and explore in a very tactile environment with benches and tables specifically designed with the child’s comfort and usage in mind.

Environment as The 3rd Teacher

An integral aspect of the Reggio philosophy we emulate at Atelier Kids Early Learning & Care is one of the environment as the third teacher. Whether we’re indoors or exploring outdoors in our playground or within the Atelier, the goal is the same; to provide an inviting space where the children are eager to explore because they feel welcome, comfortable and at ease. Nature is inherently welcoming so we borrowed elements from the outdoors and brought them inside. Natural light, a melange of tonality and muted colours, soft textures and cozy spaces, all form together to create an environment where young minds can soar.
